THE TEAM

We are Aphelion, a high school team based in rural Pleasant Hill, Oregon. It’s our first year under this name, but this team has been around for 10 years, originally in FLL. We have a young group this year with five new members, but we have been learning as much as we can and working hard. We are always trying to find new ways to improve, and we love getting other people excited about robotics!

OUR ROBOT

Our robot can do any of the possible ways to score points. Our drivetrain consists of mecanum wheels for increased maneuverability. Our lift for hanging consists of a single pulley to pull our lift down and surgical tubing to push it upwards. We are able to gear it up this way which makes it fast. For scoring particles, we have a collection box mounted on vertical lift slides. We have a pulley system that allows us to extend and retract them. There is also a motor which can rotate the slides up and down. We have sweepers to get particles into the box and we dump them through a filter to score easier. We also have a servo with a bar mounted on it which releases our team marker. This allows us to sample in autonomous.
